I don't need translation, always watch movies in original, so the current state practice of printing disks with only Russian and Ukranian (or Belorussian) soundtrack drives me crazy. It would have been unthinkable to officially publish a DVD without the original sound in US, for example. Here it is a normal practice. Drat!

Aryan i`ve got a problem with auding (i don`t know how i`m gonna to pass my english exam) so i need subs (russian, english- no matter).
So, since this day, you can watch any movies i don`t know how i used to live without rutracker before

It isn't limit: the only thing I understand clear is "Sesame Street": not all, only the speech of the counting vampire who speaks with Russian-like accent...
But I think it's a good practice too. |

Wasn't quite sure where to post the article but that seemed to be the most appropriate slot as we do not have a general theme dedicated to non-SF literature here. A very nice, smart and inspiring article by Janaka Stucky on small "indie" bookstores, their competition with Amazon (which much as I like it, seems to be killing them one after the other) and what should be done to preserve those valuable community centers (have to admit that's US and European realities, rather than ours, alas)^

Right now I try to read every possible fiction in english. For the most parts it works pretty well for me. With the exception of Albert Einstein biography by Walter Isaacson. It's good reading when book describes events of Einstein life itself, but I just can not physycally understand parts with theory of relativity.
But probably it's my stipidity to blame, not the language

I usually read Tolkien. As for me, his books are written simply. But I think the reason is — I've learned these books by heart.
Sometimes I try to read Dickens. Frequently speaking, that's quite a challenge for me as my English is too bad.

I`m used to read books in their original language (if possible). Unfortunately, it`s very seldom to find adequate translation of Russian Sf into English(( I`d read these too... Although it was very funny to read 'Diamantsvardet och trasvardet' in Swedish))
chocopekoe, Tolkien`s books are simply?! Supposedly we read different Tolkiens...
