I'm fond of "German-speaking" (no, that's not only Rammstein) and "Spanish-speaking" music. There are also some songs in Irish (Enya), Finnish (Korpiklaani), Hebrew, Arabian. There are even more exotic variants — an extinct Gaulish language used by Eluveitie, or an artificial language — Kobaian (band Magma)

wayfarer, for the next step (and language:-)) I recommend a great Hungarian art-rock band "Omega" :cool!:

When tired of meaningless and endless disputes be sure to listen to some country ballads. Certain chaps in my borough find it rather helpful.

Why only rock? What about jazz?
(Can't miss theme about music, sorry8:-0

One of the coolest English proverbs says: "Those musicians play jazz who're unable to play rock". I'm a musician myself, and I know for sure, it's not a big deal to improvise on a three-chord theme that repeats itself endlessly. As for Omega... Indeed, it's a remarkable progressive rock combo, at least considering the East European rock movement. Most of all, I like their 1977 masterpiece "Time Robber", although almost all of their other albums from the '70s are interesting as well. Whereas "XI" (1982), for instance, is a much poppier thing... boring! And yes, my favorite genre is exactly progressive rock, eg Pink Floyd, Van Der Graaf Generator, King Crimson, early-to-mid '70s Genesis and Yes, etc and so on...

Re your second sentence: No apologies, please, as they're needless, unlike those at the end of this message (go on reading or see below). What you have really missed is the "e" in your nickname — you had to put it between the "g" and the "r".

Why "necro", BTW? Why "tiger"? Neither "dead" nor "corpse", let alone "tiger", seem to be an appropriate word for the youngster in his mid-forties. ;-)

Finally, I must note I find it quite strange when Russian people — or Russian-speaking ones, no mattter — communicate between themselves not in their native language, even if the topic is rock music.

Sorry for sounding like a mentor, but English is so much simpler than you kmow what!

SWEET NEBRASKA LAND

Ah, Nebraska Land! Sweet Nebraska Land,
Upon they burning soil I stand.
And I look away, across the plains,
And I wonder why it never rains.

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
The mate was fixed by the bosun's pike
The bosun brained with a marlinspike
And cookey's throat was marked belike
It had been gripped by fingers ten;
And there they lay, all good dead men
Like break o'day in a boozing ken.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Fifteen men of 'em stiff and stark
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Ten of the crew had the murder mark!
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers' glut with a rotting red
And there they lay, aye, damn my eyes
Looking up at paradise
All souls bound just contrariwise
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Fifteen men of 'em good and true
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Ev'ry man jack could ha' sailed with Old Pew,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
There was chest on chest of Spanish gold
With a ton of plate in the middle hold
And the cabins riot of stuff untold,
And they lay there that took the plum
With sightless glare and their lips struck dumb
While we shared all by the rule of thumb,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

And a yo ho ho!

One of the problems with music in a foreign language is that if it's rock music then it can be hard to decipher.

Anyway, as for simple American style music I can suggest Johnny Cash or Grateful Dead.

Well, my favorite modern band is Rage Against the Machine.

However as for some kind of classical epitomous English music, I like the Dubliners, because they seem folksy and traditional... But there is a kind of hitch... They are Irish and typically their songs are about Irish themes!!!!
Probably this is because I am American and associate Irish and English as a kind of Old World British culture in general. It is classical "English speaking music", but not actually "English" nationally.

Yeah that is certainly a classic. I wonder if at this point it's more of a playful song like with the Disney movie Pirates of the Caribbean.
